Explore a variety of caregiver podcasts — each one offering guidance, stories and practical tips tailored to different caregiving journeys

From heartfelt storytelling to expert advice, a growing wave of caregiver-focused podcasts is reshaping how thousands of family caregivers connect, cope and find support. These programs, hosted by current and former caregivers, health care professionals and advocates, offer a lifeline for the 63 million Americans navigating the emotional, physical and logistical challenges of caregiving.
“Caregiver podcasts are cathartic for the person sharing the story and the person hearing it. When a caregiver listens and realizes, I’m not alone, that’s where the magic happens. It’s connection, comfort and trusted support all in one,” says Christopher MacLellan, founder of the Whole Care Network, which includes more than 60 podcasts, many of which focus on caregiving topics.
As the caregiver population grows, so, too, do the voices behind the mic, delivering content as varied and personal as the journeys themselves. If you’re looking for connection, comfort or just a reminder that you’re not alone, these 15 caregiver podcasts are a great place to start.
A Time to Care
Host: Isabel Melgarejo
Overview: Raised to avoid uncomfortable topics and put others’ needs first, Melgarejo was forced to confront those norms after her father’s sudden death following a heart attack. She had to navigate difficult conversations about grief, her mother’s care and the need to ask for help. After relocating to Texas and connecting with other caregivers, Melgarejo launched her podcast in May 2023 to support others facing similar challenges, particularly those from underserved communities, including the Latino community. In each episode, she offers guidance on mental health, guilt and tough conversations, speaking directly to caregivers in a way that’s honest, heartfelt and culturally attuned.

Diagnosed when Muskat was just 19, her mother’s illness shaped Muskat’s experience as an only child navigating youth caregiving and later, sandwich caregiving while raising her own children. Through raw storytelling and real-life interviews with other caregivers and experts, Muskat shines a light on the emotional realities of caregiving.

Daughterhood The Podcast
Host: Rosanne Corcoran
Overview: Corcoran launched the podcast not from a polished studio but from the quiet of her bedroom closet, where she could record between caring for her mother, managing a household and navigating her exhaustion. Her experience as a full-time caregiver to her mother with vascular dementia for more than a decade informs every episode. The podcast emerged out of Corcoran’s work facilitating Daughterhood Circles, local support groups for caregivers that shifted online during the pandemic. The stories she heard — marked by loneliness, burnout and a lack of emotional support — mirrored her own. The podcast became a way to elevate these experiences while bringing expert voices into the conversation.

Overview: Severson offers an unfiltered look at caregiving through the lens of her husband’s head and neck cancer diagnosis at age 51. Launched in January 2025, the show blends raw storytelling with practical insight into navigating a fragmented health care system. Severson became her husband’s voice — literally — after he lost the ability to speak during treatment, signing paperwork to serve as his medical proxy. She explores the chaos and gaps in cancer care, from scheduling challenges and drug access to the emotional toll of caregiving, especially for Gen X spouses who often go unheard. As she begins the second season in September, Severson will continue to question systemic failures while reflecting on the road to recovery, family dynamics and finding equilibrium in a household upended by illness.

The Cancer Caregiver
Host: Charlotte Bayala
Overview: When her husband was diagnosed with an aggressive form of papillary thyroid cancer more than a decade ago, Bayala experienced the deep loneliness and exhaustion that so often accompanies caregiving. She struggled to prioritize her own needs, constantly running on adrenaline, putting self-care last and feeling overlooked and undervalued. What she needed was someone to help her see through the fog and to guide her in finding realistic, personalized ways to care for herself.
